MIDDLE SCHOOL - 6th, 7th, & 8th Grade

Our primary goal of the Middle School Program is to provide the widest possible range of
intellectual and social experiences for our early adolescents.

Middle School moves from the classroom setting of the younger grades into more of a departmentalized structure for each of the content areas. The course work becomes more demanding as 8th grade students can begin to earn credits towards their high school requirements. All 8th graders take the ACT Explore Test which helps define their high school 9th grade courses. Middle School supports the needs of students to question and explore, to define their beliefs and move toward self-reliance. The program is structured to encourage all students to build a sense of personal worth based on competence and meaningful participation. While young adolescents need to discover their own identity, they also need the security of clear boundaries and caring adults willing to serve as their teachers. Our middle school staff members appreciate the young adolescent, understanding the natural development of their changing bodies, emotions, and inquiry which impacts the student’s learning.
